Welcome to 2012

Well another year has come and gone. How was 2011 for you? How will 2012 be? We trust it was and will be the same, as in “make this year different by making it the same.”
Of course if 2011 was not a happy year we do hope you will be able to improve in your willingness to refer to your inner teacher and be able to see things differently more readily.
I use the term readily rather than easily as it is important to recognize that ease has nothing to do with your ability, or not, of being able to apply the Course in your life. Yes it can at times seem very hard to “do the little it asks” but this seeming difficulty is not because the task is hard or difficult but because it is not always desired. Our resistance to do what the Course asks is just that, resistance. We do not want to do what it asks, we do not want what if offers. Rubbish you say! Is it? How many times have you recognized you could step back and turn over what seems to be troubling you yet refused to do so? Be honest with your self here. Unless you see your resistance to what the Course is asking you to do, your rejection of what it is offering you, your refusal to actually believe what it says of you, you will continue to have difficulty in doing it and applying it to your life. The recognition that “I am doing this only to myself” is damning to the ego but liberating to the Son of God. Perhaps the question then becomes, who would I rather be?

This year we will continue with our Saturday afternoon workshops with the first one being next Saturday and looking at the idea (actually a statement of truth) that love makes no comparisons (see entry below). The monthly Sunday MEETUPs for those in Melbourne should also begin next week and look like continuing the success of last year.

Finally for those wishing to attend a study group our Wednesday night meetings have begun again and will continue until well into December. Both Linda and I are also, as always, available to discuss with you any issues or thoughts you have regarding your practice and application of the Course in your life. Feel free to call, drop us a line or visit.

From Linda and James, welcome once again to 2012.

Saturday workshop – “Love makes no comparisons” – Feb 4

You do not offer God your gratitude because your brother is more slave than you, nor could you sanely be enraged if he seems freer. Love makes no comparisons. And gratitude can only be sincere if it be joined to love.(from W-p1.195.4:1-3 Love is the way I walk in gratitude)

A lovely sentiment that I am sure we would all agree with and believe in fact that we follow as best we can. But do we? An exploration of this theme and examination of how we usurp it more than would like to believe. Read the rest of this entry »

Christmas – What gift will you bring?

Saturday December 3 – 2:00-5:00 pm
Final workshop for 2011!

THE HOLINESS OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas is holy only if you come
In silence to the manger, to behold
Your holiness made visible to you.
Your gifts are but your open hands, made clean
Of grasping. Nothing else you lay before
The newly-born except your doubts and fears,
Your pale illusions and your sickly pride,
Your hidden venom and your little love,
Your meager treasures and unfaithfulness
To all the gifts that God has given you.
Here at the altar lay all this aside
To let the door to Heaven open wide
And hear the angels sing of peace on earth,
For Christmas is the time of your rebirth.

God in Every Detail

The Beloved in every detail. God in every detail. In every sound, every sight, every face.

Yes, we made this “place” as a place to hide. To make specialness real so that we could be special. To be a thing in and unto itself, held apart from the rest. I am a person, say and not a rock or a lizard. And certainly not the foolish person next door! Read the rest of this entry »

What is it for?

Jesus asks us to ask this question in relation to everything.

This question becomes particularly relevant when we are faced with a decision. The Course is, however, radical in it’s understanding of our ability to make meaningful decisions about anything. A careful reading of Lesson 24: “I do not perceive my own best interests” and Read the rest of this entry »

Your One Assignment Could Be Stated Thus

There is much merit in really “sitting” with Course ideas and allowing there full ramifications and implications to become apparent.
The title of this musing is taken from the “What Is Death?” section of the Manual For Teachers. Jesus says: “ Accept no compromise in which death plays a part.” Read the rest of this entry »
